The Game Story:
LEXINGTON, Va. -- VMI head coach Doug Bartlett won his 100th game at VMI as the Keydet lacrosse team (1-2) defeated Wagner (1-1) at Patchin Field on Sunday afternoon by a score of 8-3.

The Keydets took a 2-0 lead in the first quarter with goals from sophomore midfielder Brian Niven (Barrington, Ill./ Barrington) and freshman attackman Erik Rohrman (Ridgefield, Conn./ Ridgefield). Rohrmann's goal was the first of his career.

VMI extended the lead to 5-0 at halftime with three second period goals. They were scored by Niven, Rohrmann and junior midfielder Michael Lipari (Arlington, Va./ Bishop O'Connell).

The Seahawks scored three goals in the third period to get back in the game and cut the VMI lead to four (7-3). Two of the Wagner goals came from senior attackman Mike Lynch. VMI goals were scored by freshmen Jeffrey Rummell (Hudson, Ohio/ Western Reserve) and Jeff Krug (Cockeysville, Md./ Dulaney). Both goals were the first of their respective careers.

Rohrmann scored the only goal of the fourth period to seal the five-goal win for VMI.

The Keydets were led by Rohrmann, who had three goals and Lipari, who had a goal and two assists. Lynch paced the Seahawks with two goals.

VMI junior goalkeeper Brian Ward (Novi, Mich./ Novi) made 13 saves on the afternoon. Wagner's freshman Phil Mackenzie made 13 stops.

Niven won 14 of 15 face-offs for the Keydets on the day.

VMI will host Manhattan College on Saturday at 12 noon. Wagner will host Binghamton next Sunday at 2 p.m.
