The Game Story:
LEXINGTON, Va. -- Senior midfielder Ben Midura (Penfield, N.Y./ Penfield) scored a career-high four goals in his final collegiate game to lead the VMI lacrosse team (4-9) to an 11-3 win over St. Vincent (4-8) on Saturday afternoon at Patchin Field. The game was the season finale for VMI.

The Bearcats struck first as senior midfield Brett Martz took the opening face-off and scored just seven seconds into the game. Teammate freshman attackman Allen Hudson scored 5:20 later to give St. Vincent a 2-0 lead that they would retain through the opening stanza.

The Keydets responded in the second quarter with goals from freshman attackman Erik Rohrmann (Ridgefield, Conn./ Ridgefield) and Midura to tie the game going into halftime.

VMI exploded at the beginning of the third quarter, scoring three goals in the first 53 ticks of the second half. Midura, freshman midfielder Jeff Rummell (Hudson, Ohio/ Western Reserve) and freshman defenseman Matt Bruns (Timonium, Md./ Dulaney) all tickled the twine to give the Keydets a 5-2 lead that they would not relinquish. VMI led 7-3 after three quarters.

Sophomore attackman Tim Erwin (Camillus, N.Y./ West Genesee) scored two of his three goals in the fourth quarter to ice the game for the Keydets as they rolled to the eight-goal win.

Midura led the Keydets in scoring as he added an assist to his four goals. Erwin also added an assist to his three goals. Hudson scored two goals for the Bearcats.

St. Vincent sophomore goalkeeper John Pence made 12 saves for Bearcats. Keydet junior Brian Ward (Novi, Mich./ Novi) made 12 stops on the afternoon.

The Keydets were helped by their man-up team that was successful on four out of nine attempts.

St. Vincent will conclude its season on Friday night at Denison. Face-off is at 7:30.
