|Staten Island, NY - The Wagner College men^Òs lacrosse team fell to the
visiting Binghamton Bearcats, 11-1 in a non-conference game this afternoon
at the Wagner College Lower Athletic Field. Wagner falls to 1-5 overall
action while St. Joe's improves to 2-4 overall.
Binghamton would score seven unanswered goals by freshman Matt McNamara (3), sophomore Phil Cavallo (2), freshman Nate Kerstein and senior Chris Healy chipped in for one a piece. The Bearcats scoring drive lasted until freshman Ryan Burke (East Northport, NY / Northport) scored the Seahawks lone goal with 00:43 left in the second quarter. The Seahawks would trail the bearcats 7-1 going into half time.
The second half would prove no different for the Seahawks, when the Bearcats would add four more goals to the scoreboard and put the game out of reach. The Bearcats goals coming from McNamara, Kerstein, freshman Rob Williams and sophomore Brian Chaapel.
The Bearcats would receive multiple goals from Matt McNamara with four, while Phil Cavallo and Nate Kerstein two apiece. Also Rob Williams, Chris Healy, and Brian Chaapel would notch a tally apiece for the Bearcats. Assisting the goals for the Bearcats was Phil Cavallo, Chris Healy, Rob Williams with two a piece and Brian Chaapel, Matt McNamara with one each.
Wagner sophomore goalkeeper Chris Sochacki made 13 saves on the afternoon, while the Bearcats sophomore keeper Kevin McKeown notched 11 saves.
Wagner will be in action again on Saturday, April 3, when they host the Mount Saint Mary's Mountaineers in a MAAC game that begins at 10:00 am on the Lower Athletic Field.
