The Game Story:
NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Freshman Al Kohart had four goals, and juniors Garvey Heiderman and Craig Andrzejewski hit the net twice each, as the Penn men’s lacrosse team held off Yale, 9-7, Saturday afternoon at Reese Stadium.

In the Ivy League opener for both teams, Penn (3-2, 1-0) outshot Yale 42-29 to gain its third-consecutive win over the Bulldogs.

The Quakers overcame two deficits in the game, overtaking a 1-0 Yale lead by hitting the net three straight times to close out the scoring in the first 15 minutes.

The Elis (1-3, 0-1) scored four of the six goals in the second stanza to enter intermission tied at five. However, Kohart scored two of his four goals to start the third quarter and gave Penn a lead it would never relinquish

Penn goalie Chris Casey, who needed five saves to prevent Yale from pulling away in the second, finished with 12 stops. At the other end, Yale goalie George Carafides had 13 saves, including five in the fourth quarter.

Brendan Gibson notched two goals and Tyler Casertano had a goal and two assists for the Bulldogs. Both players hit the net in the third to bring the home team within a goal of the Quakers, but that was the last of Yale’s scoring.

Penn is back in action next weekend, hosting Ivy foe Harvard at Franklin Field. Faceoff is set for 1 p.m.
