| NEW HAVEN, Conn. Ned Britt had four goals and Mike Scaglione added three
as the Yale men's lacrosse team beat Quinnipiac 14-8 before 1,050 at
Johnson Field.
The No. 19 Bulldogs erased 3-1 and 5-2 deficits in the first period to remain undefeated in three games. Quinnipiac's Leigh DiPace scored two times 41 seconds apart to give the visitors a 2-0 lead. After Eric Trama (2 goals) netted one at 12:59 of the second to make it 5-2, Yale went on a 10-goal run that included all four of Britt's scores and two by Scaglione, the Bulldogs' captain. Ryan Capilupi's goal at 11:05 of the fourth was the last of the Yale run and make the score 12-5. The Bobcats (1-5) tallied three of the last five goals but it was too late for a comeback. The Elis, who entered the game with wins over Drexel and Penn State, outshot Quinnipiac 73-25 and attempted 20 shots in both the first and fourth periods. Yale did manage to score three times with a man-advantage. David Schecter and Capilupi each had a pair of goals, while Seth Goldberg (1-2), Greg Naso and Van Sternbergh also scored. Roy Skeen made 10 saves to earn the win in goal while Joe Prota had 23 stops for the Bobcats. |
