|Andrew Chapman's third period goal broke a 1-1 tie and Joe Wojciechowski scored what proved to be the game-winner in the fourth period as Drexel edged Binghamton. 3-2. It was the third straight win for the 15th-ranked Dragons, who improved to 3-1 on the season. It was the season-opener for Binghamton.|
Drexel All-America candidate Bruce Bickford came up big for the Dragons. The senior made 11 saves in the cage, including four in the final period. Binghamton came up with all three face-offs in the fourth and kept the pressure on the Dragons. The Bearcats had defeated the Dragons in each of the last two trips the Dragons made to Binghamton.
Binghamton's Jake Boyce cut the lead to one goal with just 1:19 to play, but the Bearcats were unable to tie the contest.
Drexel's Greg Casey scored the first goal of the contest midway through the first period. Colin Ambler was credited with his sixth assist of the season on the play. Binghamton tied it up in the second quarter when Boyce set up Steven Carlson.
The Dragons return home to face St. John's on Saturday at Vidas Field.
