Binghamton Edges Quinnipiac In Bobcats First Conference Match Up Andy Pelletier and Josh Murray each put up three point contests

Binghamton, N.Y.- The Binghamton Bearcats edged Quinnipiac in the Bobcats first conference contest. Quinnipiac held the lead until the last goal of the game, when the Bearcats squeaked by with a win. Junior Andy Pelletier and Freshman Josh Murray both came away tonight with three points a piece.

Less than three minutes into the game, Pelletier scored his first goal of the hat trick, with an assist from John Giordano. Quinnipiac closed out the quarter leading 1-0.

13:52 into the second quarter Chip Schmidt fed Eric Trama the first of two goals for the Bobcats this quarter. Binghamton answered back when Aaron LaFlair scored five minutes later, assisted by Brian Thomas.

Pelletier tallied his second goal of the night, assisted by Murray with 4:40 remaining in the second. The Bearcats added one more goal with 23 seconds remaining to close in on the Bobcats. The goal was scored by Brian Chaapel, assisted by Mike Tran.

Only a little over a minute into the second half, Pelletier added his final goal, assisted by Trama, increasing the Bobcat lead to two. Chaapel tallied another goal just two minutes later to cut the lead to one for the Bearcats. Phil Cavallo scored his first of two goals for the evening with 8:29 remaining in the third quarter to tie up Binghamton.

Murray scored his sole goal of the game with 5:46 remaining in the third period, unassisted. A minute later, Quinnipiac increased their lead to two when Murray assisted Mike Stottler in the Bobcats final goal.

Brian Morgan put another one up for the Bearcats with an assist from Chaapel to end the third in favor of the Bobcats.

Cavallo opened up scoring in the fourth quarter to tie up Binghamton for the second time this evening, with an assist from Chaapel. With 9:19 remaining in the game, Tran scored the game winning goal for the Bearcats, assisted by Morgan.

Kevin McKeown made 18 saves for the Bearcats tonight. T.J. Barnett stopped 11 shots in the first half for the Bobcats, while Joe Prota made four saves in the last 30 minutes.

The Bobcats return to action on Saturday, March 29, 2003 at home against Stony Brook at 1:00 p.m.
