It was the seventh time in eight tries that the Hoyas have won a season-opening game away from home under Head Coach Dave Urick.

The Hoyas also received strong performances from Brian Tabb (Potomac, Md./Georgetown Prep) who won 18 of 29 face-offs and tied for a team lead with five ground balls. Barney Ehrmann (Baltimore, Md./Gilman) also picked up five ground balls for the Hoyas and Chris Nourse forced five turnovers. Goalie Jack Davis (Glen Ridge, N.J./Glen Ridge) had nine saves in the victory.

The Hoyas opened quickly, as Gerry Reilly (Cincinnati, Ohio/St. Xavier) and Dan McKinney (Niskayuna, N.Y./Niskayuna) each scored unassisted goals within the opening face-off. Comeau would score two goals, the first assisted by Rickey Mirabito (Binghamton, N.Y./Chenango Forks) and Zac Guy would score another to put GU in front 5-0 in the game's first ten minutes.

Jacksonville would respond with their own five goal run, two by TJ Kenary to tie the score with 11:03 remaining in the second quarter.
Georgetown would answer with a four goal run of its own and never trail again, as Angel broke the tie with 10:28 remaining in the second quarter. Bobby Boyle (Atlantic Highlands, N.J./Lawrenceville School), in his first game in over a season, scored an unassisted goal before Emala scored two consecutive goals the first assisted by Zac Guy (Tully, N.Y./Lafayette) and the second by Dan Hostetler (Ellicott City, Md./River Hill), to put the Hoyas in front 9-5. The Dolphins' Bobby Stockton scored two goals before the half to close the gap to two, at 9-7.

After the half, McKinney extended the Hoyas lead to three with an unassisted goal to make the score 10-7. Jacksonville would score two goals less than a minute apart, but David Shriver (Timonium, Md./Boys' Latin) ended the run with a goal assisted by Max Seligmann (Essex Fells, N.J./Delbarton). Emala would score his third goal of the game on a pass from Jason McFadden (Bel Air, Md./Calvert Hall) to put the Hoyas back in front by three at the end of the third quarter.

Cameron Mann and Owen Green of Jacksonville brought Jacksonville within one goal, but Angel would score his first of two fourth quarter goals, followed by Comeau's third goal just over a minute later. Mann would cut the Hoyas lead to two, but Angel would score his third goal of the game with just under two minute remaining in the game to give the Hoyas a 15-12 victory.

The Hoyas return to action on Saturday, February 26 when they travel to College Park, Md. to take on the Maryland Terrapins at 3 p.m. The game will be televised on ESPNU.
