| HIGH POINT, N.C. - Juniors Mike Crampton (Kinnelon, N.J.) and Tommy McKee (Holt, Mich.) each tallied four goals as the Air Force lacrosse team earned a 14-4 road victory over High Point on Sunday afternoon. With the win, the Falcons move to 1-1 on the season, while the Panthers fall to 1-2. Crampton also added an assist to finish with a game-high five points, while Erik Smith (Jr., Golden, Colo.) notched two goals and two assists for the Falcons. In addition, sophomore Keith Dreyer (Malvern, Pa.) tallied a team-leading three helpers. Smith notched a pair of goals in the first five minutes of the contest, including a man-up score, to give the Falcons the early lead. High Point responded with its first goal of the game at the 7:39 mark, but Crampton's first tally of the contest put Air Force back up 3-1. The Falcons' lead grew to 6-1 in the second period, starting off with back-to-back scores by Christopher Allen (Fr., Hillsborough, N.J.) and McKee. The Panthers notched the final goal of the half to go into the intermission trailing 6-2. In the third period, Crampton registered a pair of scores to push the Falcons' lead to six goals. After consecutive scores by High Point with less than a minute and a half remaining in the quarter, McKee closed out the period with a goal assisted by Smith. Air Force then dominated the final stanza, outscoring the Panthers 5-0 in the quarter. McKee added two more scores, including a man-up goal, junior Marcus Walker (Denver, Colo.) notched his first goal of the season, and long-stick midfielder Kyle O'Brien (So., Denver, Colo.) scored a fast-break goal with an assist from defenseman Luke Leathers (Fr., Parker, Colo.). Meanwhile, Crampton tallied the final score of the game to give the Falcons the 10-goal victory. The Falcons outshot the Panthers, 47-27, for the game, holding a 31-11 advantage on shots taken in the first half alone. Meanwhile, High Point had a slight edge on face-offs, winning 12-of-22 draws, and notched 19 saves, compared to 10 for Air Force. In addition, the Falcons' man-down unit remained perfect on the season, holding the Panthers scoreless on six man-up opportunities. |
