MEN'S LACROSSE DEFEATS DOWLING, 9-5

Heavenor posted three goals to lead the Panthers.

Garden City, N.Y.-- Junior midfielder Tyler Heavenor (Victoria, Canada/Storm King) scored two of his game-high three goals in the third quarter to lead the No. 4 ranked Adelphi Panthers to a 9-5 conference victory over Dowling College.

Adelphi moves to 5-1 overall and 1-0 in the NYCAC. Dowling falls to 4-2 and 1-2 in the conference. Senior midfielder Ryan Clauss (Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa) notched a point for Adelphi to extend the Panther lead to 3-0 in the second quarter. The Panther defense kept the Lions scoreless until midway through the quarter, when they managed to score their first goal. At the end of the second quarter, Adelphi led 4-2. On the game, Adelphi's goaltender Mark Miller (Norwalk, Conn./Norwalk) recorded six saves. Dowling had 19 saves. Adelphi returns to action with a non-conference match-up against Div. III Salisbury on Saturday at Salisbury at 1:00 p.m.
