Adelphi vs. Pace

The Game Story:
Garden City, N.Y. - The Adelphi men's lacrosse team gave up four goals in the fourth period, falling 9-6 to visiting Pace University. The loss drops the Panthers to 2-2, while Pace improves to 3-1 overall.

Adelphi and Pace traded goals in the first ten minutes of the first quarter before Pace found the back of the Panther net with 28 seconds remaining to enter the second quarter with a 2-1 bulge. Adelphi knotted things up at two on Chad Henry's second goal of the game, but the Setters responded with two goals of their own to enter halftime with a 4-2 lead.

The Panthers cut the deficit to one goal on a Michael Gongas tally with nine minutes remaining. However, for the third time in the game Pace answered back, scoring three unanswered goals over an eight-minute span of time that ran from the end of the third quarter into the fourth to take a 7-3 lead.

Jason Fietta pulled Adelphi within two, scoring back-to-back goals just three minutes apart in the fourth quarter. Pace answered right back, getting goals from Jim Gregory and Jake Sheppard to take a 9-5 lead and shut the door.

Devin Schneiderbauer made seven saves in the loss, while Timothy Matheis collected 10 saves.

The Panthers return to action on Sunday, March 25 when they take on St. Andrew's in Laurinburg, North Carolina.
