| SPRINGFIELD, MASS. * Freshman Mike McLaughlin (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill) scored four goals and assisted on three more to lead top-ranked Le Moyne to a 19-0 win over American International in a Northeast-10 Conference men's lacrosse game at John H. Miller Field. The Dolphins (10-0, 9-0 Northeast-10) have won 26 consecutive games overall and 59 straight Northeast-10 Conference regular season games. The shutout marks the second straight for Le Moyne over the Yellow Jackets (0-7, 0-7 Northeast-10) and the second shutout of the season for the nation's top defense. Le Moyne, also a 19-0 shutout winner at Franklin Pierce on April 3, has allowed its opposition just 2.4 goals per game this season. Le Moyne jumped out to an 8-0 lead in the opening quarter. Seven different Dolphins scored as Ryan Lewis (Minoa, N.Y./East Syracuse-Minoa), Jason Long (Cazenovia, N.Y./Cazenovia), Brad Wolken (Baldwinsville, N.Y./Baldwinsville), Kyle Reichel (East Syracuse, N.Y./East Syracuse-Minoa), Chris Hand (Lisle, N.Y./Whitney Point) and Mike McDonald (Latham, N.Y./Shaker) tallied in succession before Longo made it 8-0 on an extra-man goal at the end of the quarter. Le Moyne opened up a 12-0 lead at the half and tacked on seven more goals in the second half. Freshman Brian Cost (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee) scored three times and Eric Roberts (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee) added two goals to join McLaughlin and Longo with multiple scores. Le Moyne outshot its hosts 38-3 and held American International without a shot in the first and third quarters. The shutout marks the fifth in the history of the men's lacrosse program at Le Moyne. Saturday, Le Moyne hosts No. 5 Adelphi at 1 p.m. The contest will be televised LIVE throughout Central and Northern New York on Time Warner Sports 26. It will be rebroadcast nationally on CSTV Tuesday April 26 at 8 p.m. |
