The Game Story:
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. Ė Five goals in the second quarter propelled Saint Michaelís past the American International College menís lacrosse team 14-9 on Saturday evening. With the loss the Yellow Jackets drop to 1-6-0 this season and to 0-2-0 in the Northeast-10, while the win improves the Purple Knights to 2-3-0 overall and to 1-1-0 in the conference. Graduate student Alex Walter (Deerfield, Ill.) led AIC in points with four, including one goal and three assists.

Graduate students Mike Szawlowski (Leeds, Mass.) and Rich Reichert (Nesconset, N.Y.), and junior Travis Ortensi (South Hadley, Mass.) each buried two goals for the Yellow Jackets. Junior Dan MacIssac (Port Perry, Ont.) and freshman Justin Ortega (Woodhaven, N.Y.) both netted a goal apiece.

Juniors Aaron McNab (West Springfield, Mass.) and James St. Cyr (Utica, N.Y.) each dished one assist for AIC.

Sophomore Andy Buccellato (Glen Rock, N.J.) led the way for Saint Michaelís with five goals and three assists for eight points, while senior Charles Seelinger (Massapequa, N.Y.) netted two goals with three assists.

Sophomore Eric Whettell (La Salla, Man.) stopped 12 shots in cage for AIC, while senior Zach Jandl (Brookline, N.H.) turned away eight shots in the win. Jandl was replaced with less than four-minutes remaining in the game by sophomore Nate Robeson (Norfolk, Mass.) who allowed two goals and did not make a save.

The Yellow Jackets and Purple Knights were even in shots at 39-39, with AIC holding a 12-9 advantage in the first and third quarters. AIC won the groundball game 36-33.

Next up, the Yellow Jackets host the 2009 National Championship Runner-up, No.1 Le Moyne on Monday at 4 p.m.
