Bentley vs. Franklin Pierce
April 5, 2008
The Game Story:
RINDGE, N.H. - Sophomore Kevin Gould (Duxbury, Mass./Duxbury HS) scored three goals and junior Andy Curtis (Chelmsford, Mass./Chelmsford HS) tallied four points to lead Bentley in a 13-3 win over Franklin Pierce in Northeast-10 Conference men's lacrosse action on Saturday afternoon at Sodexho Field. Junior Chris Woods (Duxbury, Mass./Sandwich HS) and sophomore Addi Van Hatcher (Tigard, Ore./Oregon Episcopal School) also notched three points each for the Falcons, who improved to 5-3 overall and 3-2 in conference play. The Ravens fell to 2-4 overall and 1-2 in the NE-10.

Bentley got on the board early and never relinquished the lead, thanks to a pair of first-quarter goals from freshman Steve Murray (Billerica, Mass./Billerica HS) that bookended a strike from Woods. Van Hatcher scored a man-up goal, the eventual game-winner, to make it a 4-0 lead early in the second before Franklin Pierce broke through with a goal from freshman Jack Scanlan (Great Neck, N.Y.) with 13:23 to go before halftime.

Gould and Curtis answered that tally for the Falcons before senior midfielder Chris Nowell (Needham, Mass./Catholic Memorial HS) scored his first of the season to give Bentley a 7-1 lead. Senior Luke Ferreira (Farmington, Maine) got one back for the Ravens, but a pair of tallies from sophomore Stephen Moulton (Danvers, Mass./Danvers HS) and Gould made it a 9-2 Falcons lead at the half.

Sophomore Wyatt Couture (South Hadley, Mass./Avon Old Farms) scored to kick off the second half as Bentley continued to pull away, shutting out Franklin Pierce for the third quarter before junior Ryan Boller (New Cannan, Conn.) put one in for the Ravens midway through the fourth.

Three goalies took turns in net for the Falcons, each giving up only one goal as Bentley held a 23-9 advantage in shots on goal. Junior Kris Dambach (Chester, N.J./West Morris Central HS) worked for most of the first half and made one save to earn the win. Classmate Zach Gostanian (Andover, Mass./Andover HS) stopped one shot in 20 minutes of work before giving way to sophomore Andy Collette (South Hadley, Mass./South Hadley HS), who made four saves after entering in the third quarter.

The Falcons are back in action on Wednesday, returning home to take on seventh-ranked Bryant at 7 p.m.
