The Bentley men's lacrosse team hung tough with No. 1 Le Moyne Friday night, but the Dolphins pulled away in the fourth quarter to take a 10-6 win over the Falcons in a Northeast-10 matchup. Bentley trailed just 6-5 going into the fourth quarter after sophomore Matt Brigham (Portsmouth, R.I./Portsmouth Abbey) netted a man-up goal with 58 seconds left in the third quarter. Le Moyne went back up by two goals, 7-5, after senior midfielder Kam Bumpus scored his third of the night just 25 seconds into the fourth. Bentley though responded with a goal from senior Mike Carter (Walpole, Mass./Thayer Academy) at the 12:55 mark, with junior Bobby Hinds (West Hartford, Conn./Conard) on the assist, to get within 7-6. However the remainder of the quarter belonged to Le Moyne, as they scored the final three goals and kept Bentley off the scoreboard. A goal by senior Chris Button with 8:41 to play began the 3-0 run by the Dolphins that took just under 3:30 of game time to complete, giving them a 10-6 advantage. Bentley trailed just 1-0 after the first quarter on a goal by Bumpus just 1:35 into the opening quarter. But the second quarter went Le Moyne's way with a 3-1 scoring advantage to lead 4-1 at halftime. Grad student Steve Caditz (Mercer Island, Wash./Mercer Island) had the goal for Bentley. But the Falcons came out on fire after halftime with three goals in the opening 2:31 from Caditz, junior Cutler Dimond (Marblehead, Mass./Marblehead) and Carter to cut the deficit to just 5-4. Le Moyne though responded with a goal from Bumpus just 25 seconds after Carter's goal, and went up 6-4 after an unassisted goal by junior Joe Corapi at the 9:58 mark. That was the last goal for nine minutes for either team until Brigham's man-up goal made it 6-5. Senior goalie Josh Baker (Randolph, N.J./Randolph) made 12 saves for Bentley, which drops to 1-3 overall and 1-1 in the NE-10. Le Moyne runs its record to 7-0 and 4-0 in the NE-10. Bentley is back on the field next Wednesday night when they visit Saint Anselm.
