The Game Story:
Gould Scores Five for Bentley in 12-9 Comeback Win Over Pace

WALTHAM, Mass. - Sophomore Kevin Gould (Duxbury/Duxbury HS) netted a career-high five goals to lead Bentley in a 12-9 come-from-behind victory over Pace in Northeast-10 Conference men's lacrosse action on Sunday afternoon. Gould added an assist for a six-point game while sophomore Brad Tunis (Sudbury/Lincoln-Sudbury HS) notched a hat trick. Juniors Andy Curtis (Chelmsford/Chelmsford HS) and Addi Van Hatcher (Tigard, Ore./Oregon Episcopal School) each chipped in a goal and two assists for the Falcons.

Bentley (4-2, 2-1 NE-10) got on the board first, opening with a pair of goals less than a minute apart from Gould and Van Hatcher. The Setters (3-3, 1-1 NE-10) struck right back with sophomores Jake Sheppard (Brunswick East, Australia) and Joe Page (Eagan, Minn.) scoring to tie the game before sophomore Joseph Clark (Hopkinton) put Pace in the lead with 4:58 to go in the opening frame. The Falcons tied the game again as the quarter concluded when Gould knocked in a buzzer-beating goal off a pass that was sent the length of the field.

After the two sides traded goals to open the second, the Setters strung together three straight goals, including two from Sheppard, to take a 7-4 lead with five minutes before halftime. Junior Jon Harding (North Andover/St. John's Prep) scored the last goal before the break to make it a two-goal deficit for the Falcons at halftime.

Harding's tally kicked off a string of seven unanswered Bentley goals that resulted in an 11-7 lead for the Falcons. Tunis tied the game with 7:12 to go in the third and sophomore Wyatt Couture (South Hadley/Avon Old Farms) but Bentley in the lead for good with 4:35 on the clock. Pace netted its first goal of the second half in the final minute of the third quarter when senior Ryan Gregory (Bethpage, N.Y.) scored his third of the game.

The Setters only managed one more tally in the fourth quarter as junior goalkeeper Kris Dambach (Chester, N.J./West Morris Central HS) made half of his six saves in the final frame to earn the win for the Falcons. Junior Timothy Matheis (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) stopped 17 shots at the other end for the Setters.

The Falcons are back in action on Tuesday, traveling to North Andover to face sixth-ranked Merrimack at 7 p.m. The next home game comes on Wednesday, April 9, at 7 p.m. against seventh-ranked Bryant.
