The Game Story:
Benjamin, Kettenbach Lead Bentley Over Saint Anselm 17-8

WALTHAM, Mass. ---Junior Jordan Benjamin (Middlebury, Vt./Middlebury, HS) scored twice in the first half and junior Mike Kettenbach (No. Andover/Pingree School) scored three times in the second as Bentley College defeated Saint Anselm College 17-8 in Northeast-10 Conference menís lacrosse Thursday night at Bentley.

Benjamin set the tone for the Falcons scoring two of his three goals in the first quarter that ended with the Falcons up a goal 3-2. Junior middy Cliff Ambrose (Gloucester) scored twice in the first for the visiting Hawks who were out shot 45-28 on the night.

The Hawks climbed back into the game in the second quarter at 5-4 with a pair of goals from junior Mike Smith (Beverly), but Bentley took a 7-4 lead into the half time intermission after three unanswered goals from junior Matt Kowalchick (Boca Raton, Fla./Avon Old Farms), junior George Fox (Waltham/Waltham HS) and sophomore Josh Kurland (Longmeadow/Longmeadow HS) who had two on the night.

Saint Anselm pressured Bentley in the early going of the second half, scoring just 13 seconds into the third period, but Bentley countered with a three goal run of their own, sparked by junior Adam Dillyís (Mendham, N.J./Trinity Pawling School) and capped off by goals from sophomore Nick Slottje (Ithaca, N.Y./Ithaca HS) and freshman Reid Morin (Portland, Maine/Deering HS).

Kettenbach put the nail in the coffin on the Hawks as he ripped off three goals in succession to begin the fourth period.

Bentley goalie Andrew Hartig (Wyckoff, N.J./Ramapo HS) made 16 saves on 28 Saint Anselm shots, while Hawks goalie Gostanian (Andover) made 13 saves between the pipes.

Bentley improves to 7-4 overall and 7-2 in the NE-10 and the Hawks drop to 4-7 overall and 3-5 in conference play. Bentley will be back in action on Saturday as they play Pace University on the Army campus in West Point, N.Y.
