Bryant vs. Pfeiffer

The Game Story:
BALTIMORE, Md. (March 8, 2003) - The No. 5 Bryant men's lacrosse team opened the 2003 season with a 15-5 victory over Pfeiffer this afternoon at Loyola College as sophomore Kalen Bennett (Fort Erie, Ont.) netting five goals in his Bryant debut.

Two-time All-America senior Kevin Barletta (Mahopic, N.Y.) and sophomore Bryan Cinque (Lynbrook, N.Y.) each added two scores, while six other Bryant players added to the Bulldog total. Barletta also added an assist totaling three points on the afternoon, as did Cinque. Junior Jon Yuengling (Merrick, N.Y.) rounded out the attack by registering multiple points with a goal and an assist.

In net, Bryant senior goalie Greg Horowitz (Yorktown, N.Y.) made five stops, while Pfeiffer keeper Trevor Smith (Horseheads, N.Y.) made 14 saves. The Falcons, who did get on the scoreboard first holding a 1-0 lead at the end of the first quarter, got a hat trick from senior Peter Fountain (Chester, Md.) and a pair of goals from sophomore Erik Kastek (West Seneca, N.Y.) and remained winless on the season.

The Bulldogs outshot the Falcons 50-18, and also held the edge in ground balls, 51-21.

Bryant returns to action this Tuesday, Mar. 8, as it travels to Coral Springs, Fla. where the Bulldogs will take on Ithaca at 7 p.m.
