Senior Josh Maphis (Ocean City, MD) scored six goals to pace the Tribe, who improve to 3-3 overall and 2-1 in the DSC. Pfeiffer falls to 1-7 and 1-3.|
Maphis would score the Indians’ first two goals, then added three straight after a Pfeiffer goal to put Catawba on top 6-1 with 9:18 remaining in the half. Pfeiffer cut the deficit to five goals twice in the second half, at 9-4 and 10-5, the later on one of four goals by Peter Fountain (Chester, MD), but could get no closer.
Pat Huskins (Hillsborough, NC) followed Maphis with three goals and two assists. Catawba held a 41-27 edge in shots and a 55-41 edge in ground balls. Frank Fish (Damascus, MD) made 16 saves for Catawba, while reserve goalie Matt Porter (Balto, MD) made 13 stops for Pfeiffer. He entered the game late in the first quarter.
