The Game Story:
BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (April 25, 2009) – An eight-goal spread in the second quarter helped fuel a 16-5 win for second-ranked C.W. Post over fifth-ranked Molloy College in East Coast Conference men’s lacrosse Saturday afternoon on Hickox Field.

The Pioneers boost their record to 12-1 overall and remain atop the conference with a 5-0 mark. The loss drops Molloy to 9-3 overall and 2-3 in ECC action.

Senior attacker Greg Cerar (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) led the Pioneer offense with four goals and an assist while senior attackers Dave Loftus (Merrick, N.Y.) and Matt Dimler (Long Valley, N.J.) each had three.

Freshman attacker Ryan Kudlek and junior midfielder Matt Dolan each scored two goals for Molloy. Senior midfielder Keith Galante added two assists in the game.
C.W. Post outshot Molloy by a 47-32 count and held a 52-29 ground ball advantage. Senior goalkeeper Daniel Sciulla (Merrick, N.Y.) made nine stops in goal to preserve the win.

C.W. Post took a 4-1 lead through the first quarter that included two goals from sophomore attacker Nicholas Coric (Walnut Creek, Calif.). The Pioneers scored five unanswered goals to start the second quarter highlighted by three marks from Cerar and two goals apiece from freshman attackman Eddie Plompen (West Islip, N.Y.) and Dimler.

Kudlek and Dolan each scored in the third quarter for Molloy’s final two goals of the game.
Defensively, junior Joe Blount (Inwood, N.Y.) caused three turnovers and picked up three ground balls. Junior midfielder Mike Cama (Levittown, N.Y.) won 17 of 25 face-offs and led the game with 11 ground balls.

Prior to the start of the game, the Pioneers honored their graduating seniors in their final home game of the regular season: Cerar, Dimler, Loftus, Sciulla, Chris Fraser (Ashland, Mass.), Mike Bedford (Rocky Point, N.Y.) and Jon Kology (West Babylon, N.Y.).
C.W. Post will complete its regular season schedule at Dowling College Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m.
