The Game Story:
Oakdale, NY- CJ Leary (Bay Shore, NY) went out on top as he netted four goals to notch his 100th career tally and dished off an assist in Dowling’s 18-11 victory over the Pioneers of CW Post. Ryan Campbell (Brampton, Ontario) helped lead the Golden Lions to their 8-4 overall and 4-2 ECC finish with four goals and three assists. The Pioneers end with a 9-4 overall record while going 3-3 in the conference.

The teams battled in the first quarter ending in a 3-3 draw. Dowling netted the first goal of the day as Kyle O’Brien (Whitby, Ontario) converted a pass from Nick Cotter (Whitby, Ontario) just a minute into play. The Pioneers shot back with two tallies as Matt Dimler found the back of the net then dished one to Greg Cerar to take the lead. Campbell even the game at two with a short handed goal but Charles Senn connected for a 3-2 Pioneer edge. With just 35 seconds remaining Justin Bunton (Mastic Beach, NY) tossed a feed to Luca McNeil (Huntington, NY) to even the playing field after the first quarter.

Kyle Rubish (Brampton, Ontario) stripped the ball from the Pioneer attack to start the momentum in the second quarter. Leary fed off the turnover and handed the ball to O’Brien for his second net of the day. O’Brien picked up another goal under a minute later and Cotter added two while John McClure (Brampton, Ontario) pitched in with one for a 8-3 half time edge.

Leary snuck in three goals before the Pioneers went on a three goal rally with Rob Renetta and Jason Hoover connected on man down tallies. But the Golden Lions held strong as they went on to claim a 18-11 victory.

Dowling was strong on face-offs as senior Gregory Graziano (East Setauket, NY) went 14-24 while McClure won five of his eight. O’Brien finished with five goals and an assist as Cotter went two and two.

Nick Tracey (Farmingville, NY) made an astounding 11 stops in his thirty minutes of play for the win.

The Pioneers were led by Cerar and Dimler who each tallied four points. Cerar netted three goals and an assist as Dimler dished off three and tallied one of his own.
