Dowling vs. Notre Dame De Namur

The Game Story:
Brookhaven, NY- ECC leading scorer John McClure tallied 8 goals in Dowling's 14-3 win over Notre Dame de Namur this Sunday, his 2nd time accomplishing the feat this season.

Coming off a win against Southern New Hampshire on Friday, the Golden Lions now stand at 2-0 on their home field after a convincing win on Sunday. Dowling dominated from the start as Justin Bunton scored in the 12 minute of the opening period off an assist from Red Killpack. The Golden Lions wouldn't quit as they went on to score 4 more times in the 1st while shutting out the Argonauts. John McClure would tally 3 straight goals within 2 minutes during the first, helping Dowling hold a 5-0 lead heading into the 2nd period.

Notre Dame de Namur would get on the board in the opening minute of the 2nd quarter as Ryan Hulsey would shoot one in with help from Nick Campo. However, Dowling would answer back with 3 more goals of their own, including a 4th from McClure. John Amato and Matthew Sutherland would each tally one of their own. After a last minute goal by the Argonauts, Dowling would hold a commanding 8-2 advantage going in at the half.

McClure wasn't even close to being finished as he tallied 2 more goals in the 3rd period while also marking an assist on a goal from Killpack. A 9 point advantage would belong to the Golden Lions as they finished up the 3rd quarter with a score of 11-2.

Two more goals by McClure and one from freshman Dan Abbene would close out the 4th quarter as Dowling would take the win with a 14-3 final. Ryan Dougherty would tally 13 saves for the Golden Lions while Matthew Coric would save 13 of his own for the Argonauts.

Dowling will face Domincan College this Wednesday at Golden Lions Field.
