Dowling opened the game with 6 unanswered goals, with McClure tailying his second of the game with 1:52 left in the first quarter. Seton Hill would answer back with 3 straight goals of their own to start the second, two coming from freshmen midfielder Joel Zalesky (Carnegie, PA), and additional tally from Chris Horrigan (Franklin, MA) to end the quarter would cut the Golden Lion's lead to 8-4 going into halftime.
The Dowling offense was too much in the second half, outscoring the Griffins 8-2 in route to the victory. In addition to McClure, freshmen Redmond Killpack (Lewes, DE) had 2 goals and 2 assists on the day and PJ Nunez (Glenhead, NY) scored his first collegiate goal. Goaltender Nick Tracey (Farmingville, NY) stopped 10 shots, including his 400th career save, for the victory.
For the Griffins, Horigan finished with 2 goals and an assist and Dan Ruby (Bethel Park, PA) chipped in with 1 goal and 2 assists.
