| WINCHENDON, MASS. - Junior Trevor Ames (Black River, N.Y./Carthage)
scored five goals and assisted on three more to lead second-ranked Le
Moyne College to a 26-1 victory over Franklin Pierce at the Winchendon
School. Le Moyne (11-2, 10-0 Northeast-10) completes its third
consecutive unblemished conference regular season. The Dolphins have won
30 consecutive Northeast-10 Conference regular season games, dating back
to the 1999 season.
Le Moyne, ranked No. 2 in the latest USILA Division II coaches poll, hosts the conference championship next weekend. The Dolphins will play the winner of the No. 4 vs. No. 5 quarterfinal on Saturday. The conference championship game is slated for Sunday, May 5 at Le Moyne College. Sophomore Corey Sullivan (LaFayette, N.Y./LaFayette) put Le Moyne on the board 13 seconds into the contest. The Dolphins made quick work of the Ravens, jumping out to an 8-1 edge after one quarter and posting a 15-1 advantage at the half. Le Moyne outscored conference opponents 194-38 this season and held eight-of-10 opponents to four goals or less. Senior attack Jeff Sanford (Syracuse, N.Y./Jamesville-DeWitt) scored four goals and Sullivan chipped in three to join Ames atop the scoring list. Sanford leads the Dolphins with 60 points on 35 goals and 25 assists. Twelve different players scored goals for Le Moyne. Franklin Pierce (0-14, 0-10 Northeast-10) sophomore Jimmy Ward (Lynn, Mass./Lynn Classical) netted his team's only goal of the game in the opening quarter. |
