April 8, 2009
The Game Story:
The visiting Cadets of Norwich University staved off a second-half comeback bid by Green Mountain College to pick up a 15-8 non-conference men's lacrosse win Wednesday afternoon.

The victory was the first on the season for NU (1-6 overall) while GMC falls to 1-7.

The opening 15 minutes of the game saw few opportunities for either side with only 10 total shots. The Cadets, however, were able to capitalize on their chances, tallying three goals late in the period. NU would tack on 4 more in the second to take a 7-0 lead before GMC were able to find the back of the net with 2:05 remaining in the half.

The Eagle's rattled of 7 goals in the 3rd to pull within 3 at 7-11 heading into the final 15 minutes, but the Cadet defense would not relent in the late stages, holding GMC to two shots. NU added 3 goals over the final 12 minutes to settle the match at 14-8.

Max Talsky (Hanover, NH) scored 4 goals and added a pair of assists for GMC while 4 others had a goal a piece. Tom Wheeler (Seattle, WA) had 2 assists in addition to a goal. Senior goalkeeper Keith Drinkwine (Selkirk, NY) made 11 stops on the afternoon.

Norwich junior Kyle Marzeoti (Billerica, MA) was the top performer with 7 points (4 goals, 3 assists). Tyler Nicoll (Ogden, UT) and Kevin Young (Westfield, MA) each tallied 3 goals. Norwich net-minder Nathan Proctor (Pleasanton, CA) made 6 stops in the victory.
