The Game Story:
SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Jeff Sanford (Syracuse, N.Y./Jamesville-Dewitt/Herkimer CC) and Corey Sullivan (LaFayette, N.Y./LaFayette) combined for 12 goals to lead fifth-ranked Le Moyne past No. 1 Adelphi 18-9 at Syracuse University's Coyne Field. The Dolphins improve to 1-0, while defending NCAA Division II Champion Adelphi drops to 2-1.

Sullivan, a sophomore attackman, netted four of his career-high six goals in the opening quarter. After freshman Kyle Reichel (East Syracuse, N.Y./East Syracuse-Minoa) put Le Moyne up 1-0 1:38 into the contest, Sullivan rattled home two goals over a 13-second span to put the Dolphins up 3-0.

Senior Marc Maresca (Bellmore, N.Y./Mepham) tallied Adelphi's first goal to pull the Panthers within two goals, but Sullivan scored for the third time with 7:15 remaining in the opening quarter to put the Dolphins back up 4-1. Sophomore midfielder Kim Delfs (Wandi, Australia) answered with a goal for Adelphi to make it 4-2, but senior midfielder Marty Moore (Minoa, N.Y./East Syracuse-Minoa) put Le Moyne back up three goals 14 seconds after Delfs' goal.

The Dolphins led 10-5 at the half, extended it to a six-goal lead at the end of three quarters and poured in the final four goals of the game to close out the defending national champions.

Last season, Adelphi outscored Le Moyne 5-2 in the final quarter to earn a 13-11 win in Garden City, N.Y.

The Dolphins dominated the game in every statistical category. Le Moyne outshot Adelphi 28-19, picked up nine more ground balls and won 19 of 30 faceoffs.

Sanford led Le Moyne in the scoring column with 10 points on six goals and four assists. Sullivan set up two of Sanford's goals for two assists to go along with his six goals. Junior Ryan Spillett (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee) scored one goal and assisted on three others. Junior goalkeeper Tom Kimble (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua) stopped nine shots.
