April 23, 2011
The Game Story:
Syracuse, N.Y. – Senior attackman Jack Venditti (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) scored four goals and dished out an assist to lead the second-ranked Le Moyne College men's lacrosse team to a 15-6 win over Bentley in Northeast-10 Conference action on Saturday afternoon at the Thomas J. Niland Athletic Complex. With the victory, the Dolphins clinch at least a share of the Northeast-10 Conference regular season title and can claim it outright with a win over Southern New Hampshire next Saturday or a loss by Adelphi in one its final two games.

The Dolphins scored the game's first two goals in the opening three minutes and eight seconds. Senior midfielder Matt Chadderdon (Auburn, N.Y./Auburn) rifled in his 20th goal of the season from the left side at the 12:55 mark. Just over a minute later, Venditti came from behind the goal on the right side to tally his career-high 21st goal of the season.

Bentley's Brendan Grant closed out the scoring in the quarter by finding the back of the net with 20 seconds remaining.

After Matt Boilard evened the score at two apiece 1:40 into the second quarter off a feed from J.D. Ayer, the Dolphins scored four straight goals in a span of nine minutes and 20 seconds. Senior Nick DiSarro (Niskayuna, N.Y./Niskayuna) scored the go-ahead goal with 11:34 remaining from the right side of the crease off a pass from behind the goal by senior attackman Jack Harmatuk (Syracuse, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy/Syracuse U.). Venditti increased Le Moyne's lead to two with a behind-the-back goal from the middle of the crease after taking a pass from Harmatuk from behind the cage. The duo reversed roles three minutes later as Venditti sent a pass across the crease from the right side to Harmatuk, who converted the lay-up to give him a goal in 43 consecutive games. Redshirt junior midfielder Tyler Sennett (Syracuse, N.Y./Nottingham) capped the streak with his 12th goal of the season with 2:14 remaining in the half.

Steve Caditz pulled the Falcons within three at the intermission with his fifth goal of the year with 22 seconds left.

After five minutes of scoreless action to start the third quarter, the Dolphins got a pair of goals from senior attackman Vinnie Alexander (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill/Onondaga C.C.) in a span of 11 seconds. He curled around the right side of the goal and fired his 22nd goal of the season inside the far left post at the 9:37 mark. Off the ensuing face-off, senior face-off specialist/defensive midfielder Corey Bulken (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) fed Alexander on the left side to give the Dolphins an 8-3 lead.

Following a tripping penalty on the Dolphins with six minutes left in the period, Boilard netted an extra-man goal off a pass from Grant with 5:33 remaining. After being forced behind the goal on the left side, Grant threw a pass to a cutting Richard Travers, who scored from the left side of the crease. Off the ensuing face-off, Grant picked up a ground ball after Tim Cobb caused a turnover and fed Jared Kinch to cap a stretch of three Bentley goals in 74 seconds.

The Dolphins regained control of the game a minute and nine seconds later as Alexander drove to the net from just inside the right edge of the restraining box, goal-line extended. Venditti pushed Le Moyne's lead to 10-6 at the end of the third quarter as he tallied his 78th career goal with 1:27 left.

Le Moyne scored four times in a span of 3:29 early in the fourth quarter to seal its 10th straight victory. Sennett ignited the run with an unassisted tally at the 13:39 mark. Freshman midfielder Andrew Chadderdon (Auburn, N.Y./Auburn) scored from the middle of the crease behind his head after taking a pass from Alexander from the right wing. Harmatuk then scored with 11:29 left off a pass from Bulken after Bentley was whistled for failure-to-advance. Venditti posted the fourth goal in the run by rolling to his left from the right side for his team high-tying 24th goal of the campaign at the 10:10. Matt Chadderdon capped the game's scoring with an unassisted goal with 6:22 left.

Sophomore goalkeeper Jeff White (Buffalo, N.Y./Canisius HS) made five saves in 49 minutes and 50 seconds of action to record his 22nd career victory. At the face-off "X", Bulken won 16-of-21 attempts and grabbed 10 ground balls, the last of which gave him 222 for his career, moving past Paul Isgar '03 and into second place on the program's all-charts. Mike O'Neil turned away 13 shots in between the pipes in the loss for the Falcons.
