Lees-mcrae vs. Mars Hill

The Game Story:
MARS HILL, N.C. - The No. 8 Lions defeated Lees-McRae College, 12-8 in non-conference lacrosse action at the Ammons Family Athletic Center and Meares Stadium Wednesday afternoon. MHC remains undefeated at 5-0 while LMC fell to 0-4 on the season.

David Hodgins (Windor, Ontario, Canada) and Danny Farmer (Calgary, Alberta, Canada) led MHC scoring four goals apiece. Danny Farmer added two assists in the win. Cade Zulak (Ajax, Ontario, Canada) added two scores while Tyler Farmer (Calgary, Alberta, Canada) provided MHC with a a pair of assists. Nick Sigona (Auburn, N.Y.) played all 60 minutes in goal for the Lions and made 11 saves.

Matt Smith came off the bench to pace the Bobcats with three goals while Danny Ives scored two goals and added one assist in the loss. Derin Vacca recorded one goal and a assist in the contest for LMC. Bobcat goal tender Andy Nesdill played extremely well for LMC making 25 saves facing 51 shots.

After trading goals during the first 12 minutes of play, Zulak scored on an assist from Danny Farmer with 2:49 left in the first quarter and the Lions would never trail gain. MHC out scored Lees-McRae 4-1 in the opening frame and 3-1 in the second stanza to take a 7-2 advantage into the locker room at the intermission.

MHC won the third period out scoring the Bobcats 4-2 before LMC won the fourth quarter out scoring the Lions, 4-1 to make the final tally, 12-8 in favor of Mars Hill.

MHC out shot the Bobcats, 51-27 and won the ground ball battle, 44-32. MHC dominated face-offs winning 20-of-22 attempts. MHC was 3-for-5 on extra man opportunities, LMC went 0-4.

Mars Hill will host Limestone College on Saturday. Game time against the Saints is set for 2 p.m.
