Limestone vs. Mars Hill

The Game Story:
GAFFNEY, SC Ė The Limestone College menís lacrosse team won its season opener, 10-6, over conference-rival Mars Hill. The Saints improve to 2-0 overall for the season (2-0 Deep South Conference) while handing Mars Hill its first loss of the year (3-1 overall/2-1 DSC).

Limestone out-shot the visitors 46-11, while both teams had 18 ground balls.

The Saintsí Pat Beall (Mt. Airy, Md.) led the team with three goals, while Brock Spilker (Pasadena, Md.) had a game-high five points with two goals and three assists. Jason Rudolph (Cordova, Tenn.) also had two goals in the win. Brad Patridge (Dublin, Ohio), Derek Franzen (Mansfield, Mass.) and Neil Harris (Pasadena, Md.) also scored. Goalkeeper Marty Ward posted five saves for the contest.

Mars Hill saw two goals each from Andrew Chapman (Toronto, Ontario) and Miles Robinson (Hicksville, N.Y.). Sean Haddow (Marietta, Ga.) and David Hodgins (Windsor, Ontario) each recorded another point. Goalkeeper Matt Holthaus (Churchville, MD) recorded 10 saves in the contest.

Limestone hosts Lees-McRae on Wednesday, March 1 at 3 p.m. at Saints Field in Gaffney, S.C. MHC will play at DSC rival Pfeiffer University on March 4, at 2 p.m.
