The Game Story:
Mercyhurst defeats Wheeling Jesuit 10-4

(Erie, Pa) After trailing throughout much of the first half, the Lakers scored three goals in 34 seconds at the end of the second quarter to give them a lead they would not surrender. Mercyhurst trailed 1-0 at the end of the first quarter and 2-1 with less than a minute remaining in the first half. Three quick goals by Ian Komorek, Jim Detwiler and Joe Poole gave the Lakers a 4-2 lead at halftime.

Komorek, a freshman, added a second goal in the final quarter while Detwiler finished with a goal and an assist. Freshman Midfielder Andrew Sands scored two straight goals in the third quarter and fellow freshman Jerod Felice finished with a goal and two assists. Sophomore Mike Rispoli played the entire game in goal for the Lakers and saved 11 shots. Junior Jeremy Johnson lead the way offensively for Wheeling Jesuit with two goals.

The Lakers improved to 4-3 on the season while the Cardinals fell to 3-4.

Mercyhurst will play its next match at home, against Catawba Saturday, April 6, at 1:00pm.
