|ROCKVILLE CENTRE, NY- Senior Dom Toscano (Plainedge, NY) set a new Molloy College school record for career points with his goal during the Molloy College menís lacrosse loss to the Lakers of Mercyhurst College on April 22. Stephen Maier held the old Molloy College career pointís record with 159, which he set during his two seasons at Molloy (2005-06). Toscano now holds the career pointís record with 160. In addition, Toscano holds the Molloy school record for career goals with 129.|
Mercyhurst opened the game with two goals and Molloy placed their first goal between the pipes from sophomore Keith Galante (Plainedge, NY) with 7:19 left in the first half. However, Mercyhurst went on to record eight unanswered goals. The Lions would not put anther goal on the scoreboard until sophomore Joe Geneva (Hicksville, NY) scored as 4:37 remained in the first half. Senior Dan Lamonica (Oceanside, NY) notched another goal for the Lions prior to halftime but Molloy still trailed 10-3.
Molloy cut their deficit to six (10-4) when junior Jeremy Kyrkostas (Hicksville, NY) netted a goal. Mercyhurst went on to score three straight goals but the Lions answered back with three straight goals of their own as junior Jeffrey Flandina (West Islip, NY), Galante and senior James Sampson (Massapequa, NY) found the back of the net with 13:08 left in the game. However, the Lakers went on to score four more goals, while the Lions only placed two goals on the scoreboard and took the 17-9 conference loss.
The Lions will host a non-conference game against Pace University on Wednesday, April 25. The game is scheduled to begin at 4:00 PM.
