| PLEASANTVILLE, NY- The Pace men's lacrosse lost to Bryant University 17-7 in Northeast-10 Conference action. The Setters drop to 6-4 overall and 3-2 in the NE-10, while Bulldogs improve to 8-3 and 5-1 in conference play. The teams traded goals in the opening two and minutes of play as Bryant's Bryan Kaufmann (Putnam Valley, NY) and the Setters James Hammel (North Caldwell, NJ/West Essex) each netted a score for a 1-1 tie. Kevin Hoagland (Glastonbury, CT) put the Bulldogs ahead 2-1 with 11:17 left in the first quarter. A key Setter equipment violation penalty left the Setters a man-down for three minutes and Bryant capitalized, scoring five times in the penalty for a 7-1 lead. The Setters' Joseph Clark (Hopkinton, MA/Hopkinton) and Justin Page (Eagan, MN/Eagan) closed the Pace deficit to 7-3 but three unanswered goals by the Bulldogs extended their lead to 10-3 early in third quarter. The Setters could not get any closer the rest of the way and fell 17-7. For Pace, Page had two goals, while T.J. Urban (Kinnelon, NJ/Kinnelon) tallied a pair of assists. In net, Timothy Matheis (Lindenhurst, NY/Lindenhurst) recorded 22 saves on the day. Pace returns to action when on Thursday, April 17 when they will host Northeast-10 Conference foe Merrimack College at 4:00 pm at Pace Field in Pleasantville. |
