| PHOENIX, Ariz.- The Pace Lacrosse team wrapped up their road trip to Arizona with an 11-7 win over Mesa State. The Setters improve to 3-0 on the season, while the Mavericks fall to 0-1. The Setters would take a 4-2 lead in the first half as Pace used a three-goal run late in the second quarter to take the lead. William Scioscia (Somerset, NJ/Immaculata) netted a man-up goal in the run, while Thomas Earl (North Babylon, NY/St. Anthony's) and Kevin Kadlick (Boston, MA/Catholic Memorial) each added a goal in the run. Scioscia and Earl opened the second half with a goal each to put the Setters up 6-2. After a Mavericks goal, Pace would use another three-goal run to pull ahead 9-3 late in the third quarter. Earl, Joe Arlotta (Garden City Park, NY/St. Mary's) and Mike Rizzotti (East Meadow, NY/St. Anthony's) scored in the run to put Pace in control of the game. Mesa State would add a pair of late goals to slice the Setter lead to 9-5 after three quarters. The teams both scored two goals in the final quarter as Matt Gebhardt (West Islip, NY/West Islip) and Andy Fritsch (Newark Valley, NY/Maine Endvell) accounted for the Pace goals in the fourth quarter. For Pace, Earl netted a hat trick, while adding a pair of assists. Scioscia netted two goals in the game. In net, Kevin Grady (Medford, NY/Bellport) played all 60 minutes, while recording 11 saves The Setters return to action on Saturday, March 19 when Pace will travel to Worcester, MA for their Northeast-10 Conference opener against Assumption College at 1 pm. |
