The Game Story:
MISENHEIMER, N.C. - Pfeiffer University scored on five of six extra-man opportunities in defeating the VMI lacrosse team (1-8) by a score of 11-6 at the Pfeiffer lacrosse field on Saturday afternoon.

Pfeiffer's senior attackman Peter Cawley scored the first quarter's only goal with 8:20 remaining, giving the Falcons (6-3) the early lead. Pfeiffer spread out three more goals in the second quarter, while VMI senior attackman John Eddy (Tully, N.Y./ Tully) scored for the Keydets as the Falcons took a 4-1 lead into halftime.

The lead was extended to 8-2 at the end of the third quarter as Pfeiffer's junior midfielder Todd McFarlane and senior attackman Brent Ries each scored two goals. VMI junior midfielder Ben Midura (Penfield, N.Y./ Penfield) scored for VMI in the third stanza.

The Keydets scored four goals in the fourth quarter, including two from freshman attackman Jeff Krug (Cockeysville, Md./ Dulaney), but Pfeiffer prevailed with the five-goal victory.

VMI was led in scoring by Midura, who had two goals and an assist. Ries paced the Falcons with four goals and three assists.

Keydet junior goalkeeper Brian Ward (Novi, Mich./ Novi) made 18 saves on the night. Pfeiffer sophomore Trevor Smith also made 18 stops.

VMI return home and face Lees-McRae on Monday afternoon at Patchin Field. Face-off is set for 3:30.
