Pfeiffer vs. Merrimack

The Game Story:
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (Mar. 9, 2005) Ė Robert Bickerstaff scored a man-up goal 2:40 into overtime to lead Pfeiffer University to a 10-9 win over Merrimack College in a menís lacrosse game on Wednesday afternoon.

Bickerstaff (Maitland, Fla.) scored three goals and added two assists to lead the Falcons, who improved to 2-1. Merrimack, playing its season opener, fell to 0-1.

The game was close throughout, with both Pfeiffer holding one goal leads at halftime and the end of the third quarter.

Rookie attack Chris Elia (East Lyme, Conn.) led the Warrior offense in his first collegiate game, scoring two goals and adding three assists. Sophomore attack Andy Teeling (Annapolis, Md.) added two goals and an assist, while seniors Bryan Brazill (Ridgefield, Conn.) and Kurt Carlson (Lynn, Mass.) each had a goal and an assist for Merrimack.

Senior Trevor Krauss (Owings, Md.) scored two goals and had two assists for the Falcons, and senior Nick Brazee (East Lansing, Mich.) added two goals and an assist.

Sophomore goaltender Tim Travers (Longmeadow, Mass.) made 12 saves for the Warriors, while senior Brian Palmer (Wooster, Ohio) stopped 18 shots for Pfeiffer. Merrimack held a 15-7 edge in faceoffs and a 42-33 advantage in ground balls.

The Warriors will stay in North Carolina to face Wingate University on Friday at 3:30 p.m.
