The Game Story:
LAURINBURG, N.C.—Senior Zach Mryncza (Baltimore, Md.) and sophomore Cole Howell (St. Albert, Alberta, Canada) led nine St. Andrews Presbyterian College goal scorers with four goals apiece en route to a 19-9 NCAA Division II men’s lacrosse victory over Wingate University on Saturday.

The Knights, who boast a 5-3 overall record, remained perfect at home with a 4-0 mark. Sophomore Ryan Otterblad (Dumfries, Va.) led the Bulldogs (3-3 Overall) with four goals and two assists.

SAPC scored the first three goals of the game and never trailed. The Knights led 6-1 after the first quarter and then built their advantage to seven, 11-4, at halftime with a 5-3 second stanza.

Another six goal outburst in the third quarter extended St. Andrews lead to 17-6 with 15 minutes to play. Wingate out scored the Knights 3-2 in the fourth quarter but still fell by 10 goals.

St. Andrews scored on 44% of their shots for the second time this season while also scoring on 3-of-4 extra-man opportunities. The Knights held a slim 43-37 shot advantage while winning 19-of-32 face-offs. Sophomore Marcus Kirby (Greensboro, N.C.) led SAPC on the starts winning 12-of-17 face-offs.

Almost half of the Bulldogs offense came during a St. Andrews penalty, scoring on 4-of-9 extra-man opportunities.

Sophomore goalkeeper Nate Hull (Millersville, Md.) picked up his fifth win of season. Hull (5-3) made 13 saves in 59 minutes of action. WU junior backstop David Suthers (Manassas, Va.) was charged with the loss after allowing the first nine SAPC goals in just over 23 minutes.

Senior Dalen Crouse (St. Albert, Alberta, Canada) led the Knights offense with a game-high eight points including a hat trick and five assists. C. Howell added two assists to his four goals while Mryncza provided one helper to his four tallies.

In his first collegiate game, freshman Tom Incontrera (Ellicott City, Md.) had a goal and three assists. Senior Drew Howell (St. Albert, Alberta, Canada) scored a trio of times; senior Tony Ferreira (Youngsville, N.C.) totaled one goal and two assists; and senior Tom Watt (Whitby, Ontario, Canada) chipped in with an assist.

Senior Dan Hartzell (Lacombe, Alberta, Canada), sophomore Kyle Loda (Vienna, Va.), and freshman Courtland Fudge (Severna Park, Md.) each notched one goal for the Knights.

Otterblad led Wingate with six points while five other Bulldogs scored one goal apiece. Junior Kyle Costello (Wilmington, N.C.) logged two assists and a goal while junior Stephen Torkington (Coronado, Calif.) had a goal and one helper.

St. Andrews will host CVAC rival Queens University of Charlotte on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. Wingate entertains Lees-McRae College on Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
