The Game Story:
COLCHESTER, Vt. - The Saint Michael's College men's lacrosse team (4-5, 2-3 Northeast-10 Conference) received goals from 10 different players to defeat American International College, 19-7, in league action on Friday on Duffy Field at Doc Jacobs Complex.

For Saint Michael's, freshman Peter Hanson (Andover, Mass.) netted three goals and two assists, while junior Charlie Niznansky (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield-Ludlowe) added three goals and a helper. Senior Jake Previte (Cohasset, Mass./Cohasset) and freshmen Andrew Buccellato (Glen Rock, N.J./Don Bosco Prep) and Paul Tortora Jr. (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield Prep) each tallied two goals and one assist in the win. Junior James Baghai (Wellesley, Mass./Wellesley) added a goal and a game-high three assists, while three Saint Michael's goaltenders combined to stop 11 shots in the win.

For AIC (0-8, 0-5 NE-10), sophomore Aaron McNab (West Springfield, Mass.) tallied two goals and one assist, while classmate Travis Ortensi (South Hadley, Mass.) added a goal and two assists. Freshman Nicholas Brett (Louden, N.H.) recorded a goal and an assist, while sophomores Mark Taylor (North Andover, Mass.) and Max Castleman (Wilbraham, Mass.) combined to stop nine shots in the loss.

Saint Michael's opened the scoring 1:51 into the contest, and led for the remainder of the contest. AIC pulled to within 2-1 9:29 into the game, but the Purple Knights scored the final two goals of the first period to lead 4-1 after one quarter, and sealed the victory by scoring the first eight goals of the second frame to take a 12-1 advantage.

The Purple Knights won 17 of the game's 28 faceoffs, and went 3-for-6 with the man advantage. Saint Michael's also held a 41-31 advantage in shots.

Saint Michael's returns to action on Tuesday, as the Purple Knights visit league-rival Franklin Pierce University for a 4 p.m. contest. AIC next plays on Tuesday, a 4 p.m. tilt at nationally-ranked Le Moyne College.
