The Game Story:
COLCHESTER, Vt. ? The Saint Michael's men's lacrosse team defeated Saint Anselm College, 10-8, in the fourth annual Saint's Cup game on Wednesday afternoon at Duffy Field at Doc Jacobs Complex. The Purple Knights used five unanswered goals and three on the man advantage, to pull ahead of the Hawks for the victory.
For Saint Michael's (2-2, 1-0 NE-10), Junior Mark Agostinelli (Dedham, Mass./Xaverian Brothers) recorded a team-high four points with a goal and three assists, while classmate Mike Boerma (Concord, Mass./Lawrence Academy) registered a goal and two assists. Junior Greg Lazarus (Evanston, Ill./Evanston), sophomore Jake Previte (Cohasset, Mass./Cohasset) and freshman Charles Niznansky (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield-Ludlowe) each tallied two goals for the Purple Knights. Junior goaltender Jeff Hannon (Wilbraham, Mass./Minnechaug Regional) earned his first conference win, making six saves, including three big saves in the final quarter.

For the Hawks (2-3, 0-1 NE-10), sophomores James Morin (Winchester, Mass./Winchester) and Chris Murphy (Winchester, Mass./Winchester) netted two goals apiece, while senior Brian Hubert (Nashua, N.H./Nashua) added a goal and an assist. Senior goaltender Andrew Roy (Westford, Mass./Westford Academy) made 11 stops between the pipes for Saint Anselm.

The teams traded goal in the first quarter with two each, then Saint Anselm went ahead with three goals in the second quarter and took a 5-3 lead into halftime.

Saint Michael's used two man-up goals in the third quarter by Previte and Niznansky to get to with one goal. The Purple Knights got the equalizer just nine seconds after Niznansky's goal, with Agostinelli's first of the game with 10 seconds remaining in the third quarter.

Saint Michael's took the lead, 8-7, on a man-up goal by Previte and added some insurance with goals from freshman Mike Bednarz (Nashua, N.H./Bishop Guertin) and Boerma. The Hawks closed out the scoring with a goal with two seconds remaining.
