| WINGATE, NC - The Merrimack men’s lacrosse team improved to 3-0 on the season with a 15-9 victory over Wingate Saturday afternoon. For the second straight game, senior All-American Greg Rogowski scored six times, leading the Warriors to the win. The Warriors scored the game’s first three goals and grabbed a 6-3 lead at halftime behind two goals each from Jo Pisano and Rogowski. Third quarter goals Jordan Tiger and Greg Fallon 58-seconds apart gave Merrimack the 10-4 lead as the Warrior attack exploded for four goals in less than three minutes. After Wingate responded with a man-advantage tally, the Warriors put the game away with tallies from Rogowski and Bryan MacPhie 1:55 apart to extend lead to seven at 13-5. Fallon finished with four points (two goals, two assists) while Pisano notched a hat trick, giving him nine goals on the season. Cory Spinale made 10 saves, as Merrimack outshot its opponents 38-30. The Warriors killed off all five of six man-down situations, while scoring four time on their power play and won 17 of 26 faceoffs. Merrimack (3-0) hosts Adelphi Thursday night (7 p.m.) at Warrior Field. |
