The Game Story:
Wingate, N.C.----St. Andrews Presbyterian College junior midfielder Steve Guarini scored two fourth-quarter goals to help the Knights (5-4 overall, 4-0 in the Deep South Conference) top number eight Wingate University 6-5 in men's lacrosse action this afternoon at Irwin Belk Stadium and John R. Martin Field.

The Bulldogs are 5-4 overall, 1-3 in the DSC. Wingate visits DSC foe Mars Hill College Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. St. Andrews entertains number three Limestone in a huge DSC game Saturday at 2 p.m.

St. Andrews never trailed in today's game. The Knights bolted to a 3-0 lead after one quarter, thanks to goals by Brendon Burke, Stephen Belderes and Scott Gordon.

Wingate tied the game at 3-3 on a third quarter goal by senior attack Joel Collins (Syracuse, N.Y.) with 9:05 to play in the third frame. Sophomore attack Steve Maxwell (Media, Pa.) assisted Collins on the play.

St. Andrews scored three minutes later when Belderes took a pass from senior attack Mike McCarthy and found the back of the nets with 6:30 to go in the period. Guarini scored the first of his two fourth-quarter goals at the 14:17 mark to make it 5-3 Knights.

Wingate sophomore midfielder Blake Taylor (Victoria, Australia) scored two goals for the Bulldogs, including a tally with 3:56 to play in the game to pull the hosts within one (5-4).
