The Game Story:
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (Feb. 16, 2008) Ė C.W. Post menís lacrosse won its first game of the season on thestrength of junior attack Greg Cerarís (Farmingdale, N.Y.) four goal, three assist effort, defeating Queens University, 14-7, Saturday afternoon at Queens Sports Complex.

The Pioneers scored the first five goals of the game and held a 6-2 advantage at the end of the first quarter. They pushed their advantage to 8-2 until Queens cut the deficit with three unanswered goals, including a man-up goal from Alex Warehime with one minute left in the half.

C.W. Post responded with three goals of their own leading into the third quarter to push their lead to 11-5 with 6:20 remaining in the third.

The Pioneer offense proved to be too much to handle as they pushed their lead to a seven goal spread and finished the game outshooting the Royals by a 47-21 count and posted a 40-24 groundball effort.

Junior Dave Loftus (Merrick, N.Y.) tallied three of his own goals while senior attacker Thomas Maloney (Great Neck, N.Y.) added two for the visiting Pioneers

Junior goalkeeper Daniel Sciulla (Merrick, N.Y.) played the entire game and made seven saves in goal for the Pioneers. Sophomore midfielder Mike Cama (Levittown, N.Y.) won 17 of his 23 face-offs.

Warehime finished the game with three goals for the Lions while goalkeepers Brandon Macknew and Mael Walkowiak combined to make 18 saves in net.

C.W. Post will continue finish its North Carolina trip with a game at Catawba College on Feb. 19 at 4 p.m.
