Queens vs. Wingate

The Game Story:
CHARLOTTE, N.C.- Queens menís lacrosse hosted Wingate University in a non-conference action at the Queens Sports Complex at Marion Diehl Park Wednesday evening. The visiting Bulldogs (4-6) picked up the win, 20-10, over the Royals (3-5).

The first half saw Queens and Wingate even in shots, but the Bulldogs held a four goal advantage, 10-6. Stephan LeBlanc (Restoule, Ontario, Highland) and Louie Boyle (Bel Air, Md., Bel Air) divided the goal scoring action in half and each scored three. Boyle also added one assist as did Brian Lipscomb (Hilton Head, S.C., Hilton Head ) and Andrew Capallo (Bel Air, Md., C.M. Wright).

The Royals had a big third quarter, limiting Wingate to three goals and scoring four. Three of the Royals goals came in man-down situations. LeBlanc scored his final three of the game and Lipscomb put the other away. LeBlancís sixth and final goal of the game put Queens within two of the Bulldogs, 12-10.

Wingate scored eight unanswered goals in the fourth quarter to come away with the 20-10 win.

LeBlanc led the offense with six goals and one assist. He took nine shots in the game. Boyle had three goals and one assist.

Queens trailed in second half shots, 18-13, and 36-31 overall. In face-offs the Royals dominated the Bulldogs 27-6, with Mike Delallo (Syracuse, N.Y., West Genesee) going 26-5 in the game. Queens picked up 47 groundballs, led by Delallo with 12 and Hunter Roof (Prince Frederick, Md., Calverton) with eight, while Wingate had 28.

Wingateís Greg Williams scored eight goals in the game, a new Wingate school record.

Queens travels to Saint Andrews Presbyterian College on Saturday for a 3:30pm game.
