|Junior attackman Michael Brown led Belmont Abbey with four goals and three assists as the Crusaders men's lacrosse team extended their winning streak to eight with a 14-10 win over second-seeded Queens in the Conference Carolinas Tournament Semifinal game this afternoon in Gaffney, South Carolina on the campus of Limestone College. The Abbey is now 8-4 on the year as it avenges its season opening loss to the Royals, who falls to 3-11 in the loss.|
The Abbey posted 30 shots as Brown led the way with four goals on 12 shots, along with three assists. Jedd Gardner added three goals, while Aaron Flood added a pair. James Regan, Tom Ottman, Miles Elliott, Kyle Welsh and Matt Spivey each added one. Brown led all players with three assists, while Gardner, Ottman, Regan and Brian Watson each added one. Nick Mezzanotte led the Royals with four goals.
Defensively, Ottman and Mike Pease led the Abbey with a pair of caused turnovers, while Tristan Keas and goalkeeper Mark Kelske both collected five ground balls. Kelske made 15 saves, including seven in the fourth quarter.
The Crusaders advance to the Championship game Sunday afternoon at 3:00 p.m., where they will face the top-seeded Limestone Saints.
