Notre Dame De Namur vs. Adelphi

The Game Story:
March 13 – The Notre Dame de Namur lacrosse team’s return home was spoiled by a 13-6 loss to Adelphi. The Argos hung with the #8 ranked Panthers in the beginning but ultimately fell, dropping their record to 2-6.

Adelphi started the game off strong, scoring a goal in the opening minute and adding another one a minute later. The Argos responded with a man-up goal by Jacob Hayashi and a goal by Derek Kimbrough to tie the score at 2-2. After three minutes without a goal, the Panthers broke the game open with four goals in the final three minutes of the first period.

The Argos regroup in the second period, scoring the only goal of the period on an intercepted pass and long shot by Kevin Nguyen.

The two teams went into the break with Adelphi ahead 6-3 and the Panthers ended all doubt in the third. The Panthers netted the first three goals to make the score 9-3. Greg Bearson scored to pull NDNU within five but Adelphi retaliated with the next three goals.

Adelphi held a 31-30 shot advantage while NDNU led the groundball battle at 25-22. The big difference in the game came on face-offs with the Panthers winning 17 of 21 for the game.

Kevin Nguyen led the Argos with a goal and two assists while Jacob Hayashi added a goal and an assist. Hunter Adams made five stops in net for the Argos.

Shane Wynn recorded a game high five points on four goals and an assist to lead Adelphi. Eric Jansen made 13 big saves in net.

The Argos are back in action Friday afternoon when they take on Rollins at 3:00 pm at Koret Field.
