April 1, 2012
The Game Story:
April 1 – The Notre Dame de Namur lacrosse team struggled to find the net in a tough 10-4 loss to Colorado Mesa. The Argos netted just four goals despite outshooting the Mavericks 29-22.

The game started off slow with a scoreless opening ten minutes. However, CMU got on the board twice in the final five minutes of the period on goals by Stephen Dunn and Kade Robinson. NDNU cut the lead in half in the opening minute of the second on a great one-on-one move by Kevin Nguyen. The Mavericks responded with the half’s final three goals to take a 5-1 lead into the break.

The third period proved to be a big missed opportunity for NDNU as the Argos outshot the visitors 11-2 but were outscored 2-1. CMU notched goals on their only two shots in the period while the Argos did not score until the final ten seconds of the third.

Trailing 7-2 heading into the fourth, Nate Jackson pulled the Argos within three with two goals in the opening eight minutes. That would be as close as the Argos would get as the Mavericks tallied the game’s final three goals to earn a 10-4 victory.

NDNU won the statistical battle, winning 12 of 18 face-offs and holding an advantage in shots and groundballs (28-20). However, the Argos did not score on their six extra-man opportunities.

The big difference game in net with the Mavericks goalies’ combining for 10 saves while Hunter Adams made three stops for NDNU.

Jackson led the Argos with three points on two goals and an assist with Nguyen adding one of each. Nguyen won 9 of 14 face-offs and collected a game high 10 groundballs. Carter Olson added a score for the Argos.
