The Game Story:
Argos Rout Adam State with Big Second Period

February 26 – The Notre Dame de Namur men’s lacrosse team trounced Adams State 21-5 in the Argos home opener. NDNU scored seven unanswered goals in the second period to bust the game open and even their record at 2-2.

The Argos started off slow, trading goals with the Grizzlies in the opening period. In the second, Kevin Nguyen and Greg Bearson scored back-to-back goals and NDNU never trailed again. After an Adams State goal made it 4-3, the Argos rattled off eight straight goals to put the game out of reach.

The Grizzlies scored their lone 3rd period goal at the 10:52 mark before NDNU responded with a nine goal spurt. Derek Kimbrough and Jordan Wagner each scored a pair of goals during the run.

NDNU held a 47-18 shot advantage for the game and dominated the face-offs, winning 20 of 29. The Argos also led in groundballs 40-13.

Kimbrough tallied a game high seven points on three goals and four assists while Kevin Nguyen tacked on two goals, two assists, nine groundballs and 13 face-off wins. Ryan Jones and Nick Peterson recorded three goals apiece with Nate Jackson, Jordan Wagner, Greg Bearson and Ryan Hulsey added two each. Hunter Adams picked up the save in net with six saves.

The Argos are back in action next Sunday when they travel east to take on St. Leo’s.
