Belmont Abbey vs. Saint Andrews

The Game Story:
Belmont Abbey attackmen Michael Brown and Aaron Flood both scored three times, and goalkeeper Mark Kelske made 21 saves on 42 shots as the Crusaders men's lacrosse team extended their winning streak to five with a 18-8 win over St. Andrews Presbyterian this afternoon in the home finale. The Abbey improves to 5-4 overall and 3-2 in Conference Carolinas, while the Knights fall to 3-11 overall and 2-2 in Conference Carolinas.

Brown and Flood led the way with five goals, both on nine shots, while Jedd Gardner added three goals on six shots. Jon Fugitt
added two goals, while Adam Basso, James Regan and Brian Watson all added one each. Basso, Brown, Flood, Gardner and Billy Lamb all finished with one assist each.

The Crusaders built a 4-1 lead after five, but the the two teams both scored five times in the second period as the Abbey held a 9-6 lead at the break. The Crusaders pulled away for good in the third, outscoring Knights 4-0 in the third period as Kelske made 11 saves in the period, including three four from the goal mouth, as the Abbey led 13-6 after three. The Abbey finished off the contest by outscoring St. Andrews 5-2 in the fourth to claim its fifth-straight win.

Kelske made 21 saves and caused a pair of turnovers while leading the Abbey with six ground balls. Flood added five while Brian Watson, Tom Ottman and Tristan Keas all finished with four. Kyle Welsh led the Abbey with three caused turnovers.

Ryan Hauswirth led the Knights with two goals while six others finished with one each.
