Presbyterian vs. Mars Hill

The Game Story:
CLINTON, S.C.- Brian Foley scored four goals, but the Presbyterian College menís lacrosse team fell 15-13 to Mars Hill College in a Saturday afternoon game at Old Bailey Stadium.

The season opener for both teams drops PC to 0-1 overall, while Mars Hill now stands at 1-0.

Down 9-7 at halftime, PC rallied in the third quarter, outscoring Mars Hill by a 5-2 margin to assume a 12-11 lead heading into the decisive fourth quarter.

The Lions then rattled off four straight goals to secure the victory. Foley closed out scoring for the Blue Hose with a late goal in the final minute of action.

PCís Sean Mulford (Towson, Md.) scored three goals while Jeremy Metcalfe (Dallas, Ga.) added two goals. Metcalfe also had two assists to finish with four total points.

In total, seven Blue Hose scored in the narrow loss.

Mars Hill was led in scoring by Tyler Farmer, David Hodgins and Jeff Cizdziel who each accounted for three goals. Teammate Danny Farmer added two goals to help secure the Lions victory.

PC goalkeeper Jon Athens (Arnold, Md.) made 13 saves in the game, while counterpart Nick Sigona of Mars Hill stopped 12 shots on goal.

The Blue Hose were successful on 19 of their 20 clear attempts in the contest, while Mars Hill was 14-of-17 on their clears.

PC will now take to the road for the next seven games, starting with a Feb. 16 game at Sienna University.
