Seton Hill vs. Dowling

The Game Story:

Seton Hill falls to 1-2 overall and 1-1 in the ECC after dropping an 11-8 contest to Dowling (2-0, 2-0 ECC) on Saturday afternoon. Seton Hill was unable to recover from a 4-0 third period deficit in route to the 11-8 loss.

The Griffins opened the scoring in the first at the 13:31 mark when Matt Delmonico found the back of the net for the 1-0 Seton Hill lead. The Griffins went on to score the next two goals of the period which included another goal by Delmonico and one goal from Jimmy Cogley to give them a 3-0 lead with 7:00 remaining in the quarter. Dowling struck back with a goal from Brendan Hayes one minute later to put them on the board. The Griffins managed to score another two goals from James Delaney and Delmonico in the remaining seconds of the first quarter to put the Griffins up 5-1.

To start the second quarter Tom Cleary scored for Dowling. The Griffins answered right back with a goal from Dylan Lefebrve minutes later to make the score 6-2. However, the Golden Lions took control of the game over the next four minutes scoring 3 goals, 6-5. After a scoring drought Delmoico put one in the back of the net increasing the Griffins advantage by two 7-5. Dowling kept fighting and was able to score another goal before the end of the quarter. The Griffins entered halftime leading the Golden Lions 7-6.

Seton Hill came out flat to start the second half and could not get a shot on net. The Griffins were out shot 20-1 and outscored 4-0 by the Golden Lions in the third quarter. Dowling took control of the scoreboard leading 10-7.

The scoring drought continued for the Griffins all through the fourth quarter. Neither team scored during the first 13 minutes until Michael Brennan put one in for Dowling increasing the lead 11-7. James Delaney managed to score one more goal for the Griffins before the final whistle.
