|On Saturday afternoon the men’s lacrosse team matched up against ECC conference opponent NYIT at home. The Griffins lack of offense led to a 13-6 defeat. With the loss Seton Hills record now stands at 7-4 overall and 4-3 in EEC play. |
The first quarter did not start out good for the Griffins as the Bears went on a 4-0 run taking control of the game at the 7:50 mark. Seton Hill battled back scoring two goals from James Delaney and Matt Delmonico to finish out the quarter trailing 4-2. The second quarter was all NYIT as the Bears scored 4 goals and were able to hold the Griffins to none. The Bears led 8-2 at the half.
In the third quarter Kevin Welty put one in the back of the net for the Griffins to trim the lead. However, the Bears were able to score a goal with seven seconds on the clock to keep their advantage locked at six goals with a score of 9-3 going into the final quarter. In the fourth quarter the Griffins did a better job offensively but were still outscored 4-3 suffering a 13-6 loss.
Dylan Gelven led the Griffin offense with two goals. Christopher Ilse recorded 14 saves in the net. The Griffins return to action next Tuesday where they take on Mercy College at home. Game time set fo
